Formula E, five different winners in 5 E-Prix. Here is the most exciting season

Five drivers for five races. It seems the remake with parody of a famous film of the 50s and instead is the film of this season 5 of Formula E that can not find other dominator except the absolute leveling of values that, as a result, sees 5 different helmets enclosed in 7 points. This time it was Edoardo Mortara’s turn, Italian-Swiss with Italian name and surname, but born in Geneva and who in 2018 in Hong Kong made an excellent debut winning seventh place in Round 1 and risked winning the next day in Round 2 finishing behind Felix Rosenqvist’s Mahindra. Even then it was a victory at the table, assigned after the disqualification of Daniel Abt’s Audi, but this does not detract from the affirmation of a driver in safe ascent at the wheel of a Venturi that is making great progress. In fact, Mortara finished 19th in Ad-Diriyah, 13th in Marrakech, then 4th in Santiago de Chile and 3rd in Mexico City. And, starting from where he left off, he conquered the third place on the grid and in the end of the race he not only managed to repel without attack mode the boarding of the Audi driven by Lucas Di Grassi, but he also approached the Lotterer-Bird duo who were playing the race crossing the finish line at only 1.7 seconds from the winner.
Venturi thus conquered its first victory in Formula E and went for the second time in a row to points, taking fourth place in the team standings and overtaking BMW by a length (66 against 65), thanks above all to the 52 points that put Mortara in fourth place in a very short driver’s standings, so much so that the top is at 54. However, the Geneva driver had already won around here, namely in Macao, where Mortara won 7 races and a title in the local GT championship. For the Monegasque team it was a statement signed by Susie Stoddard. The former Scottish driver – she raced in the DTM and was a tester for Williams – entered the capital of Venturi in 2018, becoming its team principal, while in 2011 the last name was Wolff, having become the wife of Toto, head of the Mercedes Formula 1 team. The Stella brand is preparing its entry for next year through the HWA Racelab, a team that – by chance – uses the powertrain developed by Venturi and that in Hong Kong has offered excellent performance on German cars as Stoffel Vandoorne has taken the superpole and Gary Paffett has won the first 7 points for the team. The reigning champion, Jean-Éric Vergne, who last year had always scored points and this year can’t really find the right feeling with his Techeetah, even if the performances are not lacking since the French driver dominated the Marrakech tests and his team mate André Lotterer was leading a few curves from the arrival before being “touched” by Sam Bird. The Englishman, who still won the top of the drivers’ classification, saw his team mate, the Dutch Robin Frijns, finish third. A sign that even the Virgin powered Audi is there and that this championship has not been promised to anyone.
