Subaru XV

Comfort, fun and safety.

These are the key words to describe the new crossover of the 5-star Japanese house.

The trial version is the new MY2018 2.0 petrol. We tested it in a 2 days in the middle of the beautiful Trentino Alto Adige mountains in the magnificent Val di Fiemme. Immersed in the spruce forests, those personally chosen by Stradivari to make the famous violins, we reached malge surrounded by high peaks and many grazing animals, to descend to the bottom of the valley on the shores of Lake Paneveggio.

Comfort in terms of habitability at high levels. Comfortable and enveloping seats. Ample space for rear passengers and plenty of cargo space. Security at the highest levels with rear camera and front proximity detectors. Fun for everyone thanks to a good height from the ground that allowed us to try it offroad without any problem. Excellent angles of attack and output thanks to the slight overhangs of the body / shell. Excellent consumption that, despite the many climbs and the various Dolomite passes have been around 23mpg. All this thanks to the new engine setting. Renewed the “old” though much loved boxer propeller, the new range uses a new distribution of cylinders, four opposing horizontal cylinders.

Performance and functions

Excellent X-Mode function, program that regulates the engine, traction and braking system where the surface becomes extremely slippery, and the Lineartronic continuous change automatic transmission, a CVT that accelerates, by selecting the appropriate function, simulates the shifting of the gears as if it were a traditional 7-speed automatic. The only sore point of this change is the sporting use on a mountain road, uphill. Here the displacement effect returns to be felt and by pushing hard on the accelerator, the engine rises to 6 thousand rpm, without the boost leading to an adequate increase in speed. However we had the chance to try it in various weather conditions, from the sun to the torrential rains and even on the dirt road in a pouring rain did not give any problem. Always safe, comfortable and fun to drive.

Very many electronic control and management of the various parameters all displayed on the various screens in the dashboard. Great
infotainment system, equipped with DAB + digital radio and compatibility with the main smartphones thanks to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Concluding the new Subaru XV knows how to impress. With its sporty and elegant design, powerful, highly efficient and quiet SUBARU BOXER engines, with permanent all-wheel drive and maximum comfort for the most demanding drivers, the new generation sets new trends in the compact SUV segment, demonstrating exceptional strength both on the road and off-road.
